About Basadindin
Basadindin offers a range of unique handmade bags that I make from my studio in Melbourne. In 2021 I started this small business during the pandemic as a new migrant to Australia from Indonesia, inspired by family sewing small businesses run by my uncles in Jakarta.
I design my own bag patterns, prioritising functionality and efficient use of fabric for sustainability. Recently, I have also begun to upcycle fabric to grow the sustainable ethos of the business.
Basadindin is named after a former head of my clan in West Sumatra and is a way in which I can express my creativity and honour strong traditions of craft in my homeland.
